Forget Secret Invasion, Civil War, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Blackest Night or any other so called “crossover event” in the history of comics you might have read or heard about. This is the one everybody’s gonna be talking about. Even your wife/husband, mayor or mysterious slender man only visible through your peripheral vision. They will all want to start conversations around this topic and believe you me, you want to have some insights to offer for when that time comes.
Moreover, if you felt happy for the first time in 7 years reading this, perhaps you should also consider giving this little piece I did on the Avengers a go. It’s right here.
I saw Joss Whedons “The Avengers” last week. Did I like it? Let me just say, I may end up marrying it. Yes, movie-to-man marriages are highly controversial in many ways, but love always finds a way. Keep in mind though, that nothing is decided as of yet. For one thing I want to keep my options open for Nolans forthcoming “The Dark Knight Rises“. Everybody knows you can only marry two or three movies in a lifetime. I’ve already exceeded this limit by at least 20 or 30. Safe to say that’s way too many and people are starting to talk.
Meanwhile fellow web-cartoonist – the exceedingly talented Mr. Brendan Boughen – suggested this might be a good time to cash in on the temporary electric buzz surrounding the Avengers by featuring them in a comic ( this was by the way only his exact words in opposite land). Of course I had no patience for such ideas at the time. Unfortunately I suffered a minor black-out and woke up a week later with this comic all done. What happened?
On a serious note, when the special edition Blu-ray of the comic comes out, you will hear the commentator track state that the original title was “Caught in a trap I can’t walk out Because I love you too much baby “. This is a downright lie!
When you’re done reading Anyone for Rhubarb? I highly recommend checking aforementioned Brendan Boughens work out on Cartoons by Jim. http://cartoonsbyjim.com/ It’s not very funny …in opposite land!
Well, who doesn’t? Love Spiderman, that is. Everybody does. There’s no shame in that. He’s everyone’s friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man for petes sake. You gotta respect that. There’s no magazine called Stupid Spider-Man or Stop-looking-at-me-funny Spider-Man. No, it’s Amazing Spider-man and Spectacular Spider-Man all the way. Titles like that says a lot about a man. He truly is both spectacular and amazing with his snappy banter and everyday guy with everyday problems kind of attitude. No, there’s certainly no shame in loving the Spider-man. Unless of course you wanna marry him. Keep that part on the down low.
Well, is it? One thing’s for sure; this comic doesn’t make much sense if you’ve never heard of rickrolling. If rickrolling doesn’t ring a bell then I’m sorry, I’ll try to find less obscure topics in the future. I just couldn’t help myself this time around. I hope you at least recognize the Hulk? No?
Ah, the Hulks. If you have even loosely followed the Hulk during his long and impressive career, you know he comes in a multitude of slick colors. Grey, green, red, no problem. Read this here guide for a little insight on the colorful chap; http://io9.com/353091/the-many-colors-of-hulkdom-a-complete-guide It seemed like just a matter of time before the arguably more girlish, but way cool pink Hulk would arise. “Anyone for Rhubarb?” is proud to feature his very first appearance.
My aim was to surprise you all with a festive new years eve themed comic. That would have equally blown your minds and served as an indicator of the unparalleled entertainment to expect in the coming year. Oh, I had plans! Unbelievable plans! Alas, it wasn’t to be for various tedious reasons, too much Christmas perhaps one of them. Instead you’ll have to settle for this, no fireworks or strong alcohol, but at least the colors are kind of New Yearsy.
For those among you that might have missed out on the spacefaring adventurer “Silver Surfer”, here’s what Marvel has to say on the guy http://marvel.com/universe/Silver_Surfer
